Back in 2005, I obtained a deal with BellTV where I was provided discounted programming and 2 rental receivers free (3100 & 6100).

The 3100 rental fee was $2.50 and the 6100 rental fee was $10.00, and I received a monthly credit of $12.50.

When the rental price of the 3100 went up in 2007, I was charged $13.00 for both receivers but my credit was never modified... so I paid 50 cents every month.

I never said anything, for fear of losing my free rental credits. My contract was over so I decided to bite the 50 cents per month.

Now, the 3100 rental has gone up to $4.00, so I am being charged $14.00 with a $12.50 credit.

I was thinking about calling for them to adjust the credit to $14.00.
I was also thinking about inquiring on swapping the 6100 for the 6131 so I could use an external hard drive on it (the 6100 won't allow it).

I know Bell will eventually have to swap me out when they switch to MPEG 4, but I don't know when that will be.

Any Bell experts out there that can confirm if I will lose the free rental credit if I call? Initially, I thought the free rental would only be for the contract term but they have been crediting me the receivers for almost 5 years now.

Thanks

I am not a Bell expert but I would say that you will lose the free credit. I had the same deal as you in 2005 and lost the free credit 2 years age. I would not risk calling in and losing your credit for the sake of $1.50.

The 6131 was recently on sale at Bestbuy and futureshop for $99, bound to be on again sooner or later, keep your eyes open and pick one up.

I agree with Barter. My credits ran 2 years longer than my 2 year contract and then suddenly disappeared. I too am waiting for the 6131 to go back on sale. I need 2. One to replace my rented 6100 and one to replace my rented 4100 that I have hooked up to a new HD set. At 10 bucks a month rental cost for a 6100 that 99.00 purchase price looks good.
