Grammar question-Plural versus singular?

I received an e mail from a person and feel the structure of the sentence is incorrect. Here is what I received.
But none of those people is you
I contend it should read none of those people are you. The reason it is describing those people (plural) and there should be are instead of is.
Can you English grammar majors lend some help and let me know if I'm right of stupid.
Shannon-Is not the word "are" referring to those people which is plural? That's the way I see it. I'm not an expert (why I'm asking here) but the wording sure don't sound right.
