I find it really weird as Graham's original Channel 4 show featured soap stars prominently. It wasn't really a promotional chat show. Graham just had people on that he wanted to have on; Cultural icons, old TV stars and SOAP STARS. That's what got me hooked. On one show, you'd get Dolly Parton paired with Tyrone from Coronation Street. I enjoyed it.
What I am trying to decipher is Is Graham slating soaps, ITV or only Emmerdale? Graham has never had anybody from Emmerdale on any of his shows, but he has always had people from Coronation Street and Eastenders on as recent as last year. If it is only Emmerdale, I noticed on Twitter that some of the actors including Lyndon Ogbourne and Danny Miller are criticizing Norton.
I guess it may also have to do with the new direction that his show is taking when he was doing So, it was just Graham's frienRAB and people he admired. Now it's all about which big stars he can attract. I don't mind either but I know people who would look at the guest lists and judge by how big the stars are (Jennifer Lopez Cool, Danny Miller Not) Maybe he's just aiming for the big stars. Thing is Friday Night with Jonathan Ross always had Soap stars on for the entire run of his show.
I am still a fan of Graham and soaps as well (I've always found them to be more highly regarded than the American ones) My guess is that Graham will have certain guests on, probably the majority from Eastenders (Barbara WinRABor, John Partridge, Patsy Palmer perhaps) but it just feels pretty awkward to put this out right before the start of his new series at a coveted time period.
What do you guys think? I leave it to you. Are people overreacting? Do you think Graham's quotes were taken out ofc ontext?
