Please grade my SAT essay and provide me with some feedback and I will try to give some 10 points as soon as I can
(Oh, and if I fail to award 10 points due to time restrictions, I'll make sure to vote for a final answer)
Prompt: Should people make more of an effort to keep things private?
"It's a small world, and it's getting smaller" represents life today. As the world is becoming more in tune with people, people are closing themselves in. They are privatizing their entire lives. This is not the answer. People need to open themselves up, as it can often save lives or lead to new discoveries.
Keeping things private can often be very deadly. As the social era is rising with technology's expotential increase, social conflicts are becoming more of a worldwide problem. Too many people think suicide is the answer. It is not. However, people have their own reasons, ranging from fear to social condemntion, to not disclose their thoughts to other people. Some problems can not be kept quite. They need to be heard so others can help whoever needs. Just like the famous "Lean on Me" son goes, no one can help "if you do not show" what the problem is.
Furthermore, progress can not be attained if things are kept private. The common Middle Ages belief was that the Earth was at the center of the universe. This belief, held for over a thousand years, was not helping science progress. In addition, since the belief was so strongly held, it was difficult for any opposition to claim otherwise. Yet, Copernicus discovered that Earth was not at the center of the universe, but rather it revolved around the sun. Once his idea was finally accepted, science made progress in astronomy, physics, and other fields. If Copernicus kept his findings private, the Earth would still be considered to be at the center of the universe and scientists probably would not have discovered other universes, as they have now.
Similarly to Copernicus, American scientist Wilbur Watkins did not keep his findings about water comets private and as a result, allowed the field of science to progress further. While examining some photographs from space, Watkins discovered that the tiny spots he saw were water comets. He claimed that every year, these water comets added about 1 inch to all of Earth's oceans. By publicizing his report, he gave other scientists another window into the world of dinosaurs. Though he was faced with some criticism for going public, he changed science for the better.
Some things can not be kept private because it hinders progress for humans beings and the world.
