GPS for T3: TomTom N5 Vs Emtac N3

I would like to get a GPS that I can use in rental cars. My Hertz neverlost bill is getting out of control, and I have to rent larger cars than I want. I have been comparing the TomTom Navigator 5 to the EMTAC Navigator 3 online. Do you have experience with either of these products? Recommendations?

TIA

My suggestion - buy a Garmin C3 or C5 standalone unit that's full self contained. I've owned a Garmin iQue 3600, M4 and 2720 (the one that I use primarily now) and a standalone unit is much better than a receiver coupled to a Palm or Treo - the routing capabilities are so much better with the standalones.

I used TomTom on a T3 a few years and you can search for my review - in a nut shell I returned it and didn't recommend the experience to anyone.

So again, I'll stand back and say - standalone unit or stay away from TomTom.

Thanks for the tip. I suspected something like that after reading the reviews. I am going to take your advice and go with a stand alone.

I really want to get rid of some of these gadgets. I have a cell phone, a blackberry, the T3 and of course a laptop. I used to take up every outlet in a hotel room until I started traveling with a couple of short extension cords connected together. I don?t want to give up DateBk5 or Plucker so I am not likely to give up the Palm. The blackberry performs poorly at 50 percent battery, which happens fast when I use it as a cell phone user. I wish I could get down to just one or maybe two gadgets (and chargers, and accessories.) Now, it looks like I am going to add a fourth

I was running a similar configuration - here's something you might try: assuming your cell phone is BT enabled you could try using the T3 Versamail to connect to your exchange server - you won't be able to use exactly like the Blackberry but you should be able to check your email provided your Exchange server is "OWA" enabled - meaning web access is permitted.

You can set the T3 Versamail to a popserver configuration and see your email. It would take more manual processing then the BB server using the Blackberry but it might be possible. I've got my T5 configured that way so I don't carry around phone and BB unit.
