GPS for bike with download capabilities and "breadcrumb" feature...?

I am looking for a GPS unit that I can mount on my bars, and has a few features. One of my things that I want is to be able to download maps of pre-set, popular routes - I ride the "Bike NYC" and "Livestrong Challenge" rides, and it would be nice to download a map to see where I am at a given time. I would also like a "breadcrumb" feature, allowing me to track where I ride and save the route, ideally viewing it back on the GPS and also on my computer.

I have been trying to find a program that does this to use on my Blackberry Storm, but cannot. My next option is to buy a handheld GPS and mount on the bars.

I've been using a Garmin that has those features for years. Mine's old & big, but here are some new ones designed for cycling.

They also have terrain features so you can see how steep the trail is.
