Government Positions in Ancient Rome?

I love reading about Ancient Rome but I tend to get bogged down by governmental positions and what they entail (quaestorship, plebian tribune, aedileship etc).

Can somebody please describe to me (in relatively simple terms) how the government of ancient Rome worked & also describe the role of each political office?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
