Got pulled over, had insurance, but no proof. Help please?

I was pulled over for driving with no headlights on in Boulder, Colorado (wasn't my car, so only had parking lights on). The cop said she wouldn't give me a ticket for the lights, but gave me one for no proof of insurance (like I said, not my car, so not really my fault the insurance card wasn't in it!). She said I have to go to court and whatnot. Now, is there a way I don't have to actually go to court? My court date isn't until February 16, 2011 (she gave me the ticket on Christmas Eve btw). For example, can I send in my proof of insurance and they'd clear the ticket? Or do I have to take time off work and go to see the judge? Or can this all be done online somehow?

I've never been to court before, and I'm very nervous. I have extreme social anxiety. Which is why I don't really want to have to go to court. Any way out would be great. Anything I should know about going to court?
