Got my first bill from at&t : $301.00 !!!

Just got out of a previous nightmareprovider, then signed up for at&t (since a freind works at a local store) , one active phone with 2year contract (they don't do 1year) , and one existing phone not on contract.

My daughter also used some webfeatures which costed extra $ ... However since I am a brandnew customer, isn't it possible to get some part of this astronomical bill waived (aka as courtesy write off )??

This leaves me desperate and I understand now why most of the people go for prepaid !!
I don't know how to proceed in order to get help !!

I'm sorry to hear about that giant AT&T bill--what an unfortunate way to kick off a new plan. I wanted to respond by mentioning a strategy for seriously cutting cell bills that you might find ideal. We tend to think of wireless costs as fixed, but you can tinker with your plan to optimize its features to best suit your usage and often generate significant savings in the process. I know this firsthand because I work in the consumer advocacy division of the Houston-based company Validas, where we electronically audit and subsequently reduce the average cell bill by 22 percent through our website, fixmycellbill.com (and I'll add that 22 percent equates to over $450 per year for the average user).

You can find out for free if fixmycellbill.com can modify your plan to better suit your individual needs by going to the website. Check out Validas in the media, most recently on Fox News at myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/consumer/conlaw/lower_cell_phone_bills_072409.

Good luck on retaking control over your wireless expenses.

yep, as a matter of fact one of my phone is unlocked and not bound on the contract..So probably I will use this until the problem is resolved ..

I wish I would have listened to my wife !!

Yeah, still working on it !! Glad that I found this forum.. by the way I know there is a company called "CREDO" who would by out your contract (up to $200.00) Did anybody ever use this company ?? and what is the network associated with them ??

First success :

they took of $26.00 for my second line which is the unlocked phone not on the contract (they didn't tell me in the store they would charge me an activation fee for my own phone).

Wow !! not even 10 %....

Sorry I am a newbie and I didn't know we have a subforum for at&t , i posted this in the general provider forum and I like to copy the topic over here :

The activation fee is not for the phone. It is for the voice service which is activated with a SIM card regardless as to what phone you use. You should make sure that that you have features to cover usage instead of pay per use.

That saves money only if one had international roaming charges. it is unlikely that a new customer would be allowed to roaming internationally during the first month.
