My dad got a ticket from police for fishing. He caught two fishes under 10.5 inches and got a ticket for it for violation of sec. 40.1. It doesn't say how much is the fine. It just asks my dad to appear in court on such and such date. Why don't they just say how much is the fine? Why does he need to appear in court? I don't think it is a big deal to catch couple fishes. What's the worse thing can happen when he appear in court?
He was fishing near the ocean. It didn't have a sign that you need to have a fishing license and it is public. It is not private. we are living on Long island, NY. Is fishing license require at public beach?
