I'm having lots of trouble setting up google voice, this is an android phone right ?

Does Cricket support call forwarding....?

I only want google voicemail.... Someone please help ! : ) :clapping:

You'll want to do both:

How do I use the "Busy Line Call Forwarding" feature with my Cricket phone nuraber?

To use busy line call forwarding, complete the following steps:

1. Dial *73 followed by the ten digit phone nuraber (555-555-5555) you would like your calls to be forwarded to.
2. Press the SEND button.
3. You will hear a tone and your call will terminate automatically.
4. All incoming calls to your Cricket phone nuraber will now be forwarded to the nuraber you selected.
5. To turn the feature off, dial *730 and press the SEND button.
6. You will hear a tone and your call will terminate automatically.
7. You will now receive calls as normal to your Cricket phone nuraber.

[-] How do I use the "Call Forwarding No Answer" feature with my Cricket phone nuraber?

To use call forwarding no answer, complete the following steps:

1. Dial *74 followed by the ten digit phone nuraber (555-555-5555) you would like your calls to be forwarded to.
2. Press the SEND button.
3. You will hear a tone and your call will terminate automatically.
4. All incoming calls to your Cricket phone nuraber will now be forwarded to the nuraber you selected.
5. To turn the feature off, dial *740 and press the SEND button.
6. You will hear a tone and your call will terminate automatically.
7. You will now receive calls as normal to your Cricket phone nuraber.

I couldn't get it to set up with the activation nuraber google provided. Googles site also says cricket service is not supported with Google VM....

Has anyone been successful setting this up ?

I only wanted google Voice Mail

I can't set it up because when I try to verify my nuraber by entering the two digits they tell me to, the robot doesn't understand what keys I pressed.. It's rather annoying.

It works fine on my phone. Maybe it's because I had it setup on my previous phone (Droid Eris on Verizon) and used the same Google account when I made the switch..

Sorry, I misunderstood. I should have an Ascend to test with on Monday, but I can tell you Google Voice should use any Cricket phone as a forwarding phone just fine. I used to use WinMo phones back in the day, and they even worked. When your verifying the 2 digits Google senRAB you, make sure the phone is muted, wait for here to finish speaking, press each key for a bit longer than usual, and wait a good 1-2 before entering the 2nd nuraber. The way that the Ascend passes nurabers while in call can be kinda finicky, but it should verify.

I was able to get my hanRAB on an Ascend yesterday, I was able to set it up as my forwarding without any issues. If you can, try to get the phone replaced or re-flashed at a Cricket store, it should work just fine with Google Voice.

edit:

Or if you feel comfortable, you can try re-flashing it yourself, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828430 & http://www.cellphonedaily.com/how-to-format-or-reset-huawei-ascend.html

Or you can try a factory reset:
power off the phone hold the volume up button the send button and turn the phone on and voila

Either solution will delete any data not stored on the sd card, but should fix your problem.

I don't think it's a problem with my phone or Cricket. I read into it and it seems a lot of other Android users are having the same problem. It seems the Google Voice robot cannot interpret the DTMF tones properly or something. I'm going to wait and see as I do not want to flash my phone just for Google Voice. Thanks for the suggestions though.

def not your phone unless you have deleted files from the system that it depenRAB on i had the same problem with sign up but with another model phone.

wrks flawless over here from day one once verified

I have a Huawei Ascend on Cricket and only had a little trouble setting it up. Verification worked without issue. However, GV was unable to automatically setup voice mail settings and such on my phone. If it is failing to interpret the DTMF tones, maybe try and use DTMF tones from another source. Is your signal strength okay?

Anybody know how I could just ignore all calls to my Cricket-assigned nuraber? I get lots of spam calls on it, and I only give out my GV nuraber.

I hate to say it, but it should verify just like any other phone. Google calls you, you pick up and enter a 2-digit nuraber, then it hangs up, theres nothing more to it. Have you tried forwarding all your calls to another phone and verifying Google Voice through that phone? If that works, undo "Unconditional Call forwarding", and turn on "Busy Line Call Forwarding" & "Call Forwarding No Answer" to fully enable google voice as your voicemail.

"To use unconditional call forwarding, complete the following steps:

1. Dial *72 followed by the ten digit phone nuraber (555-555-5555) you would like your calls to be forwarded to.
2. Press the SEND button.
3. You will hear a tone and your call will terminate automatically.
4. All incoming calls to your Cricket phone nuraber will now be forwarded to the nuraber you selected.
5. To turn the feature off, dial *720 and press the SEND button.
6. You will hear a tone and your call will terminate automatically.
7. You will now receive calls as normal to your Cricket phone nuraber.
"

well i got to verify, but when trying to forward doing *72 and dialing the ***-***-**** it goes to a message saying, we are sorry, you the nuraber you have dialed is not in service. cricket doesn't support this...or somethings up ! damn it! anyone else having major issues?

Let me just clear this up. I posted to Cricket's Facebook page on this, and got a call from Cricket and also I called Cricket customer service. Both verified they don't have conditional call forwarding. So basically Cricket and Google Voice don't work together (in terms of the main feature, which is using google voice's voice mail on cricket phone via conditional call forwarding). Even though the Google support site provides instructions on doing this, those instructions don't actually work. The following features are *supposed* to work, but they are not stackable - so you can't get the call to google voice mail under both conditions (busy, no answer), according to customer service. Also, trying *74 on the Android II phone at least, doesn't actually work. You just get a silly msg saying this feature is not currently available - no info as to why, when, what to do next, etc.

*72(0) forwarding (always)
*73(0) busy
*74(0) no answer

It's not cool that you can buy a Google phone (Android) from Cricket, and get an Android plan, but you can't use one of Google's main features - Google voice. Just try the automatic setup, and it'll fail and tell you, right within the app, to do it manually, backing up Google Support's insistence that this is supported on Cricket. It just isn't. Cricket's going to have to take a look at this, and they don't have a useful or meaningful suggestion box or feature request box to get that process started. When I gave that feedback to the person that called me, I got the impression it'll just go into a black hole somewhere of things that no one will care about. With customer service, they don't really know what to do with feature requests.
