Google Nexus or Apple Iphone?

I have recently become employed and im looking to get a new phone. I was quite set on getting the Iphone until i found out about the Google Nexus. For the same money on contract, it seems as if i can get a much better deal on the Nexus phone. Im just looking to see if anyone has had much experience with either and could point me in a good direction.

P.S. Im not going to opt for the 3GS, as paying £45 a month doesn't seem like a sensible option to me
 
If you purchase any kind of iPhone, you will be contractually obligated to get a service plan just for the iphone, which will mandatory for the life of the phone. If you text or even just receive a text, you will be charged for it. The only way to avoid it, is be getting another package for texts.. .

Bottom line, it will be cheaper in the longrun to go with the Google Nexus, than the iPhone.
