them? What kind of writing? Hi Guys,

I was just reading this post on Yahoo answers, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090525212721AAOUFbK . In Puff's Mom response, she mentions that good writing is showing what the writer what they want to see. I can see the logic in this as this process involves creating images and calling on emotions. This in turn makes writing colorful just like when you add decorations to a house. However, do we always use this kind of style, if there's a name for it, in all types of writing?

I can't possibly see how it would be appropriate when you are writing a letter to a friend or when you are writing scientific essays. Wouldn't it be awkward?

I think this type of writing should depend on what you are writing for. But what do you guys think? Can someone elaborate on this?

When is it appropriate or inappropriate to use this style of writing?
