Good Vampire/Horror novels/authors?

lol I loved Twilight, but it deff was NOT a horror book. It made vampires, look like softys.

I'm reading "Host" right now, it's pretty good. It's about Aliens.

Also, Charlaine Harris's "sookie stackhouse" books are good. It's like an Adult version of Twilight. More sex and horror. The HBO "True Blood" show I love which is based on the books.

Hope that helps!! :)

I believe when it comes to such subjects the one author you need to turn to is Anne Rice. She has more than poetry in her novels it has chilling darkness as well. I know you have heard about her books "Interview With The Vampire", "Queen of the Damned", and "The Vampire Lestat" to name a few. They have one reason why they are popular till today because they are uncomparable to other vampire based novels.

let the right one in by John Ajvide Lindqvist its odd but awesome.
the jist of the story line is

Oskar and Eli. In very different ways, they were both victims. Which is why, against the odds, they became friends. And how they came to depend on one another, for life itself. Oskar is a 12 year old boy living with his mother on a dreary housing estate at the city's edge. He dreams about his absentee father, gets bullied at school, and wets himself when he's frightened. Eli is the young girl who moves in next door. She doesn't go to school and never leaves the flat by day. She is a 200 year old vampire, forever frozen in childhood, and condemned to live on a diet of fresh blood. John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel is a unique and brilliant fusion of social novel and vampire legend, a deeply moving fable about rejection, friendship and loyalty.

ROFLMAO! i totally agree with you! i even thought that this question was from someone who loved twilight but anyway, you should read True Blood, i'm not sure what the author is but you can search it up on Google. I haven't actually read it but my friend has, she says she loves it so have a try. It's sort of a mystery vampire novel though.

Personally I don't think you can get much better than the original Dracula by Bram Stoker.

For Horror novels I'd recommend James Herbert or Dean R Koontz.

Check out Anne Rice. She has written many novels based around Vampires. As far as I know, her novels were written quite a while ago and some may be slightly difficult to find but my dad (loves vampire novels) And highly recommends her writing.
