dude you might need fifty pound test for a 75 pound fish. most of the surf caught species (not including night sharks and rays) can be caught on 6 to ten pound test. and closer to the sand than you think. I don't know where you are but in so cal you might catch a perch on six pound test and cast it back out as bait and catch a nice halibut on 12 pound test but that is on cloudy days and in four to five feet of water if the waves are less than a foot. too many variables but I really think that the 50 pound line is way overkill. Let me ask you, would you rather catch 30 small fish or no big or small fish?
