I am currently a sophomore at a top liberal arts college on the east coast, but have decided to transfer. I intended to go to med school, but after freshman year, decided that wasn't for me.
Since then, I have completed 1 computer science course and am currently enrolled in 2. I'm not amazing at programming, but I'm not bad and really really enjoy the field.
However, my current college has a very tiny computer science department, and I would really like to go to a school in California with a lot more options.
Here's the problem though:
I am sure that the students who attend Stanford, many of the UC and some CSU schools who focus on comp sci/engineering are some of the top students in the country who start taking classes as soon as they get accepted. Transferring as a JUNIOR into one of these schools, given my limited knowledge of computer science, seems inadvisable; I feel like I would get swept behind. But I don't know where else to apply and still come out with a strong name behind me that companies will want to hire. Any suggestions?
