My boyfriend and I want to get away for spring break to a good hiking area with plenty of options for trails, and we'd prefer it be a national or state park so we can be away from noisy roads and such. We're in PA but we want to go south, so someplace in Maryland, Virginia, or North Carolina would be ideal. We were planning to go to the Shenandoah park but all the campgrounds there are closed. Can you recommend a good campground with good hiking nearby (it's ok if we have to drive to the trailhead, just not too far!) I'd like to get away from these boring PA woods with nothing but tall, dead trees!
