Good Opening Statement for Debate?

I need a good opening statement for this class debate practice we have tommorow. I am on the Pro side, which is for the united nations to prioritize environment rather that poverty. All suggestions are welcome i need these asap if u see this plz give an answer. :)
 
mention how the homeless won't have a place to live once the east coast is submerged under water. If we don't make fighting global warming NOW, then this could happen in as little as 35 years! I would also mention famine, droughts, floods, and increased natural disaster, and the effects all of those would have on the homeless and those trying to help them. Tough topic, but easy won.
