I'm trying to find a good myth or fairy tale that I could rewrite and modernize sort of like Shannon Hale's The Goose Girl or
Esther Friesner's Nobody's Princess.

I really like Greek Myths, Brother's Grimm Stories, Irish/Scottish/Celtic Mythology and Asian folklore but I'm open to anything.
So far some of my Ideas have been
Greek:
Persephone
Danae
Pandora(s box)
Eros and Psyche
Andromeda

Brothers Grimm
Beauty and the Beast
The Seven Swans(and like tales)

But none of them seem quite right. Any ideas?

I've always been fascinated with the Brothers' Grimm stories.
They are lyrical, sharp, and completely raw.

Plus, the idea of reversing the plot or at least the intentions of one character is quite appetizing, isn't it? I think it would be great to hear one of their lesser-known fairy tales from a different character perspective with German literature aspects as well as modern techniques thrown in as well.

I would read it! Alas, whatever you choose, I would love to hear about it. It sounds fascinating!

Happy writing,
Kimber
