Good movies based on American history?

**Just my OPINION**

For an extra credit assignment, I am to watch a movie based on an American historical event anywhere from exploration to 1865. The only movie I can think of is "The Patriot". Any other suggestions?
 
Here you go...I guess you don't have to do a piece on the civil war, maybe you could do a story on Lewis and Clark or The Hudson Bay Company, or Lloyds Of London and it's impact on trade in the early US...
