Good looking cartoons

It had to be done. It probably already have been too. But hopefully not too recently.

So...
I know alot of the cartoon fans not only like the story and characterisation in the cartoons(or animation, but I prefer saying cartoon) but also, the way they look.

Now, this thread is going to be about "sexyness" or goodlooking or similar.
Discuss stuff about it. I know you want to.;)

Also, Delete this topic if it's not ok. I do not mean to disobey the rules, I just want a diffrent thread. That's it and all.

One of the many things I loved about Avatar is the character development of Zuko. Not on his personality but on his character design. He has a specific look for each season that really illustrates his growth: I think he looked the best in Book 3.

:^:I'll admit...I had a slight little fangirl moment when I first saw this :^:

So who are some cartoon characters that I would consider sexy? Well let's see now...

  • Lois Griffin from Family Guy
  • Wonder Woman from Justice League/JLU
  • Huntress from JLU
  • Evil-Lyn from the 2002 He-Man cartoon
  • April O'Neil from the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon

Velma's had a little revamping in the new Scooby Doo! series, and I think the bows in her hair are cute on her. So yeah, I'm neutral when it comes to those two.

I never got why he was muscular and buff in the first season, but scrawny and wimpy in the third. If anything it should have been the opposite.

Anyway, I think most cartoons don't have a very good art style (nowadays, anyway. The 90s were a different story). Most of them have really basic/simple designs that look like/are done in Adobe Flash, or just plain crude and undetailed art styles. That kind of makes it hard to find the characters 'sexy' in that regard.

The thread isn't limited to cartoons today. You can choose any character from any era you find attractive or has a nice design. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I think anime characters can be included too.

This, and it also depends on which cartoons. If I were to think someone was "good-looking" or "sexy" (and I'm guilty of this), it would be on a cartoon where the characters are humans and actually look like normal humans. More often than not, cartoons like anime tend to fall into this category quite a bit because the human characters in most anime look more realistic when comparing to a real human.

When I see a character that I think is good-looking, it's really just a mere comment or compliment more than anything else. I just say "oh, he's kinda hot" and continue to watch whatever show like it's nothing.

Sakata Gintoki of Gintama. Leik whoa. :p It doesn't help that he's voiced by Tomokazu Sugita either - geeze, I could listen to him read the phone book.
...

Actually, that'd be pretty funny, Sugitan is nuts. XD

Um... Hijikata Toshirou is also pleasant to watch. Although his character design is nearly identical to Gintoki's (they poke fun at that a lot) so that might have something to do with it, heh heh.

Vash the Stampede. How can you not love the goofball? It's just icing on the cake that he's hot! :D

Yes. As I stated before, I say cartoon because I prefer too. This thread is aimed at animation in general.

If you like anime babes with ****:flapjack: larger than their head, then fine, it's okey.

Well, as "Good looking", like "Good Characters design", I have to say is Aku from Samurai Jack. I mean, if you want a true face of evil, Aku is the one for you. I just love how he looks. I mean, LOOK AT HIM!

Now, for "sexyness" Character design, well, I got a HUGE list on that ,But for now, I'll just pick out two randomly.

One, I have to choose is the NEW Batman:TAS, Harley Quinn.

Even though she doesn't "Show" any real "sexyness" on how she dress, but I do see little "charm" to her. She got that mix being somewhat "cute" and having this "sexyness" to her. In other words, she's funny and tough, a good mix if you as me.
And, I like the New B:TAS design of her. I'm not a big fan of the DC comics design of her (Well, Mad Love is A.O.K in my book lol) and the whole batman arkham asylum design look...WAY TOO MUCH! Talking about over kill.

Another one come in mind is Wuya from Xiaolin Showdown. I was never a big of Xiaolin Showdown. The plot is kinda weak, I really didn't like any of the characters and the series felt to simple for me. Well, that's not until I saw Wuya true self.

Well...Hello. lol

Velma will always win in that battle...IMO. And that new design of Velma in the new Scooby Doo series; just add more points to her. lol

The above screencap is from the show's third season, and I don't think Zuko looks "scrawny" at all.

And even if he were scrawny in season three, he was a fugitive from the Fire Nation for all of season two, scraping by on what little he could steal, so it'd make sense that he didn't have a lot of time to work out or enough good food to eat.

I don't believe that I have ever found any anything good-looking in the sense referred to here. But as for cartoons with nice designs...the Warners in Animaniacs, the dragons in Danny Phantom, and many anthropomorphic animal characters are some that I find cool. Human characters fall into ugliness far too often in cartoons, but I wouldn't find them to have cool designs. And Aku from Samurai Jack has a design that might beat all the aforementioned in coolness.

GI Joe had some beautiful animation of military hardware by Toei Daga (shame the series itself was held down by heavy censorship). Animation of people was hit and miss, but when GI Joe was animated well and on model, it looked DARN good.

I would say the same for G1 Transformers, but for some reason the animators just couldn't hit the same high notes and most of TF was very wonky. Though the 1986 movie and the episode "Call of the Primitives" stand out as good animation.

As far as good character desighn. I've always loved Felix the Cat's very simple construction and desighn. Cute, round, and happy. Any character that I can see good construction on and see animation principles in I like. The Goldenage is all construction and line of action etc... up untill around the mid fifties. Examples after that that I like. I really enjoy the Silverage character desighns such as Yakko, Wakko, Dot, TTA characters, Freakazoid characters etc... I always enjoyed the Fosters desighns, I could actualy feel a specific style in that show. I didn't feel the creators trying to be cool and edgy. I also enjoyed early Butch Hartman desighns like Johnny Bravo and Dexter's lab. Early animated comercials have good desighns. As well as some modern day. I still see alot of appeal In Silly Rabbit. Woody Woodpecker's second incarnation is also a good example.

Now, as for sexy desighn, Betty Boop, definately, Hello Nurse to.

Genndy's never been a good artist in my opinion, and I kind of fault Dexter's Lab and Powerpuff Girls to be the declining point of art in animation over here (where shows started adopting a similar basic, crude, and unappealing art style). Samurai Jack's character designs were too simple and lacked any kind of detail or structural form of anatomy, and tended to lash polish overall. Sym-Bionic Titan looks to be the same stuff as Samurai Jack; with very simple and lazy character designs. I'd say something like Avatar is a good looking show, with nice designs and detail put into it.

Yugioh! Duel Monsters had one certain animation director who did amazing work. His name was Takahiro Kagami, and is more famous for his work as chief animation director on Death Note. I remember always liking the episodes he animated on Yugioh as a kid, just for the aesthetics.

I also liked Flapjack's style, or rather, styles. I liked that each storyboarder was allowed to flex their own spin on the characters. Its visuals were often disturbing and gross, but in an artsy way, if that makes sense.
