O.k i simply love to read books, but i would like to read books that can contribute to my vocabulary, grammar and are interesting. I prefer books with meaning, as in i dont like incoherent ranting on of someones life going along doing the things they do everyday, lol get my point? anyway, something controversial, not kid books by the way, i am a grown man. Suggest some famous literature besides shakespeare please.

Umberto Eco has one of the most extensive vocabularies I've ever come across. Try his, "The Name of the Rose" or "Foucault's Pendulum".

You may have read these already, but the best books in my recent memory were Memoirs of a Geisha, Angels and Demons (made me wonder why Da Vinci Code made the author famous; A&D was much better) and Hawaii, by James Michener. If you typically read classical literature, these are some well written popular novels - like watching an intelligent movie rather than legitimate theater. Any "controversies" are in the context of the books' story lines rather than current events. Honorable mention to "Having Our Say" by the Dulaney sisters, who lived past 100. It's a quick read for a heavy reader and a fascinating view of America's past.

If you havent read it

Anthem by Ayn Rand

VERY intresting book. up there with 1984 and BRave New world as far as dystopian novels
