Hello, Im 20 years old and weigh 142 lbs and would like to reach my goal weight of 120 lbs. I started the gym yesterday and will be going an hour a day 5 days a week (weekdays) and riding my bike a couple miles on Saturdays. For my first day I started with the eliptical machine for half an hour. Then I went to do some weight machines varied between legs, stomach, and arm machines. Then for the last 15 minutes I went back to the eliptical. Im not a big fan of the treadmill because im a smoker and cannot run but the eliptical makes me feel the workout more because I sweat and I dont sweat as much on the treadmill. Anyways The weight machines I was using I would do 20-50 reps on each machine. I was wondering If this is a good number to stick to or if I should do more reps on each weight machine or not. Also remember Im only there for an hour and no more then that due to a busy schedual. Is this a long enough time to go to the gym or should it be longer in order to lose weight?
P.S. I was wondering whats more important to focus on the eliptical? Is it calories or distance?
I burned off 300 calories in the 40 min on the eliptical in all and a total of 3 miles.I also put the machine up to a level 5 of resistance and an 11 for incline. Should I go higher to increase my fat burning?? Not including any calories burned on the weight machines.
Thanks for your help in advance
