I don't know what the exchange is for US to CAN $'s is but you may have a tough time finding a reliable f/s mtb for that range. For the money...Specialized does the best bang for buck in the lower price points. The FSRxc is their lower price offering and is and awesome bike, but starts at $1350 US. If that's out of your range then check your local shop for some trades or used buys. If that doesn't pan out check out mtbr.com classifieds for some used deal. Just make sure you get the right size and beware buying junk.
