Good first bike for small lady ?

I am a short (5'2') small lady over 40 and have never even driven a scooter. I'm seriously thinking of a motorbike for the summer. It would be for traveling to work only. Any suggestions?

Hi, go to your local Harley Davidson/Buell dealership and take a look that the Buell Blast. The Buell Blast is available with two seat heights for adjustability. The Blast has a 500cc single cylinder engine with a 5 speed transmission. It is perfect for someone with your stature. The Blast is super easy to manuver and it gets 70+ miles per gallon. The dealerships use the Buell Blast for their motorcycle riding course program. If you do not know how to ride and operate a motorcycle, I would look for a MSF (motorcycle safety foundation) course in your area. The MSF course is free if you pass. All you have to do is show up, read the book, ride and pass. Best of luck.

Yamaha V-Star 650 isn't bad. it's a good bike to learn on (my wife did) and it would be all the bike you would ever need. You can make it look at nice or as simple as you want. They are fairly cheap, cheap to maintain and if you decided you love to ride (most people do) you have a bike that would allow you to ride decent distances with other people. Also gets 45-50 mpg. We owned two, loved them both, and just upgraded to bigger bikes. But they sure fit the bill when we first started. Neither one of us, had ridden before.
