good Chevelle songs

I heard a Chevelle song on the radio (Vitamin R or something like that) and it was pretty darn decent. Does the band have other good songs or are they just a one hit wonder?

No, they've got a decent list of hits. The song that broke them is called "The Red", and can be found on their 2002 release "Wonder What's Next." They also had a pretty big hit on that same album with "Send The Pain Below," and also (to a lesser extent) "Closure."

On their latest release, "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)", which includes "Vitamin R", they had another hit single called "The Clincher," and then "Panic Prone" was a smaller hit. So, they've established themselves pretty well. I mean, they're not huge by any means, but they're one of the bigger alt-rock banRAB around. Doesn't hurt that they're from the suburbs of Chicago either

I was enjoying 'this type of thinking (could do us in)', able to listen to it first to last. That prompted me to rent the 'wonder what's next' tour dvd, I was very underwhelmed with the songs and the performance. Just seemed dull, sometimes it is better to know little or nothing about a band--they've got some talent but nonetheless, quintessential suburbia rockers.

Very true...it's a good album for what it is, but it's also entirely different from Chevelle's last two releases.

Unfortunately, it was the sound of a band that didn't yet have its identity, and one that was marred by the production (rumor has it that the band and producer Steve Albini didn't quite get along during the sessions). That's why they won't play any of the songs from Point #1 live.
