Good books for college age girls?

When I was a younger teenager I read a lot of YA teen romance novels (Sarah Dessen, etc.). I'm 18 now and I have been looking for some similar books that have characters that are around my age and preferrably starting college. I haven't had any luck.
Can you suggest any novels that fit this description?

P.S. No Twilight or any other sci-fi related book.
 
Chuck Palahniuk. Anything by him. His books are actually really weird but really well written. I love all of his books. My personal favorites are Rant and Snuff.

His books are fucked up though.

Also, A Melon For Ecstasy is another good one. But again, I'm really into messed up books.
