Good book idea???????????

The kid goes to school, lives in the middle of nowhere with no neighbors, and has 5 miles to his school. When he gets back from school one day, he finds out that his family disappeared. The TV is oddly off, the computer is off, and all lights are on. He gets letters from the kidnapper containing clues to their location. He has to find the psychopath and his family before more are kidnapped and his family is killed.
 
the plot seems interesting but it seems peculiar that someone would kidnap people in the middle of nowhere
