Golgo 13

Anyone like this series? The manga is one of the longest running series ever. I got one of the movies today randomly after seeing that it was by Osamu Dezaki, who did that Black Jack anime which I saw on Ani-Monday a while ago.

edit: Apparently it's an OVA: "Queen Bee".

The current TV series is a glorious example of stoic manliness and nostalgia coupled with a rather barebones episodic charm.

in addition to what Juu-kuchi said, the current TV series also has the most kick ass opening in along time (its almost too heroic for a guy like Golgo 13).

I used to have the first manga of Golgo 13 (or what was rerelased here in the US, which had random chapters in the 300 or so) and it wasnt bad, it is definetly an anime for the older crowd.

And theres a NES game ported to the US, which i see copies of it from time to time. I have yet to see the movies or OVA, though i do want to look into them.

Golgo can be described as a much more darker City Hunter, or if Ryu didnt have a comedic charactor. Golgo is also thought to be different races and cultures, from japanese, russian, english, middle eastern and many more, from different profiles and assumed alises he uses in his work.

Wow, its been a good while since ive posted something on the anime forum that i really like to talk more about. If any Golgo was to air on Ani Monday, its probably going to be the 80's movie...

The NES game was fun and have you seen Golgo 13 The Professional? Criminally underrated and fun anime flick that has been one of my favorites since high school in the late 90's.
