this.? Let me be brief, [to describe what I am looking for in an answer]. The solo purpose of a question being posted is to retrieve a 'relevant' and 'rational' answer to not just solve the question (which has been posted). But to secure the chance, of this problem ever occurring again, this question is no opportunity for those simpletons to rack up a few points, to increase what ever meaningless personal ranking system they have on this website... Now if your post does not target or meet these requirements then there's a shiny little red thing in the top of the window which your glaring at right now - Click it.

On to the question... One of my two 'Carassius auratus' yellow goldfishes have died recently. After leaving the house 10 minutes after I had awoken from my bed, I didn't pay much attention to my aquarium - just simply dropped a pinch of flake food into the top of the tank and left. Returning home eight hours later, I find one of the fish and his decomposed guts floating at the top of the tank. [swiftly moving onto the point] Now not knowing how long that fish had been floating in the top of the tank for or even taking any notice of his actions / movements during the dying process (I'll call it) to see if there was any difference - before and during. After cleaning the tank out and putting my remaining fish back into its tank - new water and what not. He went through a period of a day or two of not eating, people referred to this as something called "new tank syndrome". So I kept tempting him with food throughout the two days but he wasn't having none of it.

Final yesterday he looked more energetic than ever before! Twirling and zooming around the tank, eating his food and what not... It was only when the twirling and zooming didn't stop, and it had become more rapid and splashing movements, ramming into the side of the tank and moving carelessly in and out of the plants I started to get a little concerned... Intill about 2 hours before beginning to type this "question" out, it started smell like decomposing guts again - the smell is leaking from the tank now and the fish is still meaninglessly flipping backwards and forwards throughout the tank. I've read up that the possibly of it being some sort of parasite is high.

Now would anyone like to tell me whether or not this is the sight of a parasite, or a generally sick fish?

this is not the sign of a parasite

Until then , good luck.
Respectfully,
Simpleton
