gold fish in upside down why?

my friends fish is upside down, why? and how can i help?
it is breathing, making bubbles
 
NOO HE MAY NOT BE DEAD!!! I know a gold fish that likes to swim upside down. He occasionally swims normally but for some reason he likes swimming upside down.
 
Ok, not dead people! Its a disease called swim bladder disease, caused by being fed floating foods, like goldfish flake of floating pellets. It causes the fish to eat the air at the surface of the water and the food. Can be cured. Take a pea and remove the shell. Break it into pieces the fish can eat. Give one pea a day to the fish until he is better.
