Going to the gym: myths or facts?

I've recently started going to the gym again and did some research on the do's and don'ts. I asked my trainer about what I found out and his answer was in conflict with what had I read on the net so I'm a little confused on what is right.

Is going to the gym everyday good or bad? - a read a lot of people that it is unhealthy do go there every single day and the recommend going only around 3 or 4 times a week

Is working out more than an hour bad? - I read somewhere that after an hour your body will not produce anymore productive results (or something like that)

When muscles ache, should you take a day off from the gym? I know that if your muscles do ache in means that your work out is producing results but will the aching hinder my work out?
