Going to China, I need phone buying advice....

I've got an trip to China coming up in the next few weeks. My v300 is starting to fall apart, and i figured China might be the place to find a replacement. I have no knowledge of what types of phones are available in the Chinese market, so what i would like to know is... if you went to China, and had reasonable funds(up to 500 USD) at your disposal, what phone would you get and why?

Depends on what you want. If you want a relatively simple phone, then you can get the SLVR L6 or the RAZR (cheesy, I know, but that's the only simple phone I know of that carries the bands necessary for use in Canada). If you want a PDA phone, try the E680i (I think that's what it's called now). If you're going for a phone with lots of features (2+mp camera, MP3 player, etc...) then you could go for a Japanese import. For example, the Toshiba V904T goes for $330US, the Toshiba 803T goes for $240US, and the Sharp 903 goes for more than $510 (flashing firmware included) in China (at least Shanghai). If you want something else, I can tell you what they do have- SE, Nokia, and Moto are there, Samsung, Pantech, and LG as well (LG sells a 5MP cameraphone now), and a couple of local brands, but their phones usually suspiciously resemble phones from one of the international manufacturers and don't have tri-band.
