I will be going to basic training this summer as a human intelligence collector for the army (35M). After basic training and getting sent to Fort Huachuca AZ, will I be allowed to choose what language I would like to learn? If I am I would love to learn Korean and be an intel collector in South Korea; would this route be possible or is this field entirely for being deployed to Iraq/Afghanistan now?
All right, I am not saying that going to afghanistan/iraq is horrible, but I would much rather learn chinese/german/korean/anything else. But I expect that's how most people think, so even if arabic was my last choice will I still possibly get it?

If you didnt take the DLAB and get a 100 plus added it to your contract BEFORE you leave for basic training. Your not getting ANY language. You need to have the aptitude to learn languages before they send you to DLI. And most likely as a 35M you will learn some type of Arabic, most likely you wont get Korean in your MOS. Plus with your job you will be deployed alot. Probably right after AIT.
