GOD!! I hate thieves!

A few months back my, sons Game Boy Advance was stolen. We looked all over, and we put up a notice in our churchs newsletter and website about it. Nothing was turning up and eventually we gave up and it was forgot about. But last Sunday (3 days ago), this couple (who will remain anonymous), told us that they saw his GBA at a little corner antique store right off the highway. We went out today and checked it out, and lo' and behold it was in fact my sons GBA, along with a couple of his games. However the case and a couple of the other games weren't there.

Needless to say we wanted to find out who sold it to the shop owner. And after some thought, he remembered. And guess what? Lo' and behold, it was the same couple that told us at church that the GBA was there in the shop. WTF? These people were supposedly our friends.

On the good side of things, the owner gave someone that he knows the carry case and the other couple games, and he's going to give them back to us. And on top of that, the guy agreed to sell us back the GBA, the carry case, and all the games for what he bought them for ($20). He is also going to look into his records and pull up the piece of paper that has their signature on it, and also pull up the security video from when they were there selling it.

I'm a pretty mellow guy and I tend to let quite a few things slide, but this time I can't let it slide. I will see them punished for this. These people didn't think of who they were affecting by stealing this. My son was crushed, not them. Me and my wife were the ones who had to see him cry because he thought we were mad and disappointed in him (which wasn't the case), they didn't have to see shit like that. I will update this when they find out that they've been caught in their own web of shit.

Just when you think you can trust someone!

I'm mixed about this... i couldnt help but spot the irony of you being a church goer and making the title "god!! i hate..." I am sure that in the bible is says to "forgive our trespasers as we forgive them" or something to that effect.

If you truely want something to be done about it.. emberrass them by letting your pastor or priest know that some of his parishinors are thieves and have him give a sermon on it. Then when the whole deal is done... walk up to them while your kid plays his gameboy and ask them how they felt about it. Give them a chance to come clean. If they choose not too... im sure your religion states that god is the judge. So i would let him sort it out.

(just for the record... i do not believe in religion. Personally i would press charges on them. I believe that this situation warrants something other than the lower forms of worldly judgment.)

It's always the people that you least expect, Beefy.

I learned the hard way that it's hard to trust anyone these days, especially friends and those that you are around every day.

I do, however, agree with Kre8or, if you really want to show them that they were completely wrong after you find out that they really did so, tell your pastor to talk with them about it with you present. The last thing you need is being at odds in a church, so do it with a mediator (which in this case would be the pastor) present. Keep things toned low, as well. Don't let it get heated.

I actually forgot to mention that I am a bottle of mixed emotions right now. And if you want to get into technicality, theiveing is an action. So although I know that I have to love these people as I would my brother, it doesn't mean I can't hate what they do. I should've named that better I guess.

And as far as my belief in God goes, and the saying of forgive and forget. I guess that IS the one area of my life that I do err' in is the fact that I can forgive, but I can NEVER forget. But unlike Him... I am ONLY human.

And also, I am going to be talking with my pastor about this. And more than likely he will accompany me when I confront the people about this, because as I said I am all mixed up, and I don't react well to people when they cross me in this way.

Well i believe that this is the intent of your belief system.. to be able to correct the things that make you want to be vendictive. So perhaps this has taught you some sort of lesson or even brought about a minute change. Though i do not believe what you believe... i do stand firm on the whole "everything happens for a reason".

I had a person steal something of mine right in front of me. I tried to stand up to them, but they were to resilient. They denied I ever owned it, to my face. There were more of them, they were stronger, and I was powerless.

It took me along ass time to get over it. Time heals almost everything, but also has a large propensity to destroy everything as well.
