Go for the new ipod now or wait for Apple just in case?

i have the 1st Generation 32gb iPod Touch. It's not scratched up or anything. However, there seems to be something wrong with the earphone jack. Sound will only come out of one earphone instead of two. I can make it work through both if I put pressure on a side of the inside of the earphone jack. I hear this happens to many iPods sooner or later. On top of that, the "home" button seems like it's stuck in the frame. i gave it to an Apple product repair shop and they said the cost to repair all of it would cost the same as a replacement. so i have decided to just buy a whole new iPod touch for $269, but it will be 3rd generation and 32gb. i'm debating whether i should buy one now, or wait until apple comes out with a newer product in the same price range. i have nothing to lose, and i can still use my old iPod touch with no problems (im still able to listen to my music and play apps) - i can manage; im willing to wait for (at most) a year.

so should i wait for a new product? if so, for how long? Do you know of any upcoming Apple iPods?

well if you want to wait for the new ipod touch, it is supposed to be coming out in september of this year, and it might have a camera, who knows, and i heard that the new ipod touch is supposed to be a huge difference from the previous models unlike the differences between the 2nd and 3rd gen. if i were you i would just wait, because something greater is going to come out soon.

yeah you can get a new ipod now, but you might regret not waiting for the new one. :\

No I dont know of any new ones coming out, but the ipod shuffle 3rd generation JUST came out. I assume they wont be making another one for a while. Just go and buy the 3rd gen. shuffle. I got one and it talks to you. And the buttons for volume and for skipping a song are on the headphone cord. So you dont have to constantly press on the ipod which may be causing its problems.
