i have a 97 GMC K1500, the left carrier bearing just sheered out and most likely the axle/wheel bearing on that side is also FUBAR. my question is, do i have to take it to a shop to have the carrier shimmed after i have changed out the bearings, and inspected the rear end for further damage? any help is greatly appreciated, please no smart ass remarks. (im trained in everything but drivelines.)
