Gmail not sending emails.

I tested gmail by sending emails to myself and it would not work in the android gmail application.
When I look under labels>sent, I see the emails there but they never arrived in my inbox.

I tried the old remove battery and sim, start without sim and then start with sim trick and it didn't work.
I couldn't figure out how to "delete cache" for gmail

I need my gmail as it is a core part of my business. I am stumped, what to do? Any ideas?

Inbox works great, its just sending that doesn't work.

go into settings, then manage applications and find the applications list (might be all apps, varies with version) open gmail and there will a button to clear data (cache).

you'll lose those unsent emails though...

There is no gmail in the Manage Apps section of my phone. I used Titanium back-up after rooting my phone, and there was no "clear cache" part in that program either. I used "wipe data" but that didn't help me either.

Phone is xperia x10
