gmail / blackberry / help! (newbie)

Hi All,

First time post, complete newbie!

Just bought a Nokia E61, love it so far but would love to get my email sorted!

I have a gmail account and have downloaded the googlemail application which I can use to check my mail.

I would like it if when i had new mail it automatically told me which I think is possible but after trawling through these forums im lost!

I would really appreciate if some could post an idiots guide

You can setup your gmail account in the integrated email app in your phone (within the Messaging menu). Have a quick search and you'll find the configuration settings. Then you can set it to check for new mail as often as you like.

If you're looking for a really easy (and free) way to receive push email (data connection always on, emails are 'pushed' to your mobile immediately), check out www.morange.com.
 
You can always register at www.mail2web.com for a free exchange account and then use Mail For Exchange to get your emails. Its a push email solution.

You will need to use gmail's email forwarding feature and forward all your emails to your mail2web account.
