General Motors is planning to introduce a brand new electric in 2016, alongside the next-generation Chevrolet Volt which is scheduled to arrive the same year.According to Business Week, GM wants to develop a compact car that can run 200 miles on a single charge and carry a generator that could run on gas, diesel or natural gas. The vehicle would cost about $30,000, a person familiar with the project told the aforementioned source.
The new EV will be more expensive than the next-generation Volt, which is supposed to be about $10,000 cheaper than the current model. The 2014 Chevrolet Volt starts from $34,995, but customers that are eligible for federal tax credits can buy it from $27,495.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that General Motors is also planning to offer an electric vehicle that would rival the successful Tesla Model S.
