gm produced the EV1 and is going for the "Volt"; another "designed failure"; why?

the EV1 got about 25 miles per charge; the Volt will get about 25 miles per charge. The Tesla gets about 200 miles per charge. Which one do you prefer? The Tesla has beat Ferraris and Lotus in the quarter mile drag? It's main problem is the transmission...and it's still the best electric auto. why is GM still intentionally producing an electric car that is designed to fail? i say they don't want electric cars to succeed and by producing a failure; they are encouraging other auto makers to avoid them.
 
GM cant get much right, even if the Volt turns out to be decent vehicle, its release date is a couple years too late. Other makers will be in the game, Chrysler is releasing an interesting electric sports car, the Toyota another generation Prius, with plug in ability, using lithium ion batteries, and up to 60 mile range on batteries only. Other manufacturer are not far behind. In 2010 you will finally see more diesels, GM light duty diesel for 1/2 ton trucks, diesels from Honda, Toyota and Nissan. BMW is selling their 3.3 diesel this year in the 3 series cars.
