GM dashboard battery light and tilt steering wheel?

I have a 1994 grand am and recently my steering column came loose(tilt steering wheel) and now my dashboard battery light comes on and my head lights or dashboard back lights won't turn on. Could these be connected at all or do i have two different problems? And if they are connected would getting the steering column fixed fix the other problems?

I know i should get the steering column fixed soon buts its still drivable.

It could be a variety of things. as far as the battery light I would check the terminals and make sure they are clean and tight. If the battery light remains on I would check all of the fuses and replace any that might be broke. If the light still remains I would have the alternator checked to see what voltage it is putting out. (you can have the alternator checked at Checker Auto Parts or Auto Zone for free, they can also check your battery to see if the battery needs to be replaced.)
As far as your lights go you probably need to just change the bulbs and the auto parts store should be able to help with this to. If your steering column is loose I would get it fixed If I was you. I hope this helps

I would say related because the car has a smart switch for the high beams and all that. sounds like when the column came loose it pulled loose a connector
