GM crops and the environment?

here's the deal, i'm writing a report on weather genetically modified crops should be grown in Australia. I have plenty of scientific reasons FOR growing the crops. The problem lies in the AGAINST growing the crops. I know that there are environmental issues that go with introducing new previously non-existant genes into the gene pool but there is no source that i have found that can give any decent ancers to WHY the introduction of the new genes could be harmful. All the information seems to be in the for arguments.
PLEASE HELP.

*also i would apreciate people's opinions on weather GM foods should be grown (ideally in Australia but just in general should surfice)
