I don't have links but I can tell you. first Jan second of the year they had to pay 89 billion dollars in medical and pension plans, that's without selling one car on that day. and when GM had 200 billion in the bank the Unions wanted part of it so GM was forced to make pay arrangements it could not keep up. in good times yes in bad times not a chance. Also they had plans that paid unemployed workers 2/3s of their pay on the job market they had for life so basically they did not have to work and still received their pay, Next was Nafta and Cafe standards forced on the company to build cars that would not sale then add the Government Tax's on their profits and the government telling them how they had to build cars and how many and that was more than the boat could handle. So the deck of cards of bad desisons came down, the problem is it's so big that it effects everything. GM has other companies like Delphi which builds instrument pannels for cars jets and other motorized things and they took money from it to keep the car company afloat, next was the foreinn cars that came in that lasted upwards of 200,000 with no problems and GM's died at 30 and 50 thousand. Up until the 90's All three auto companies had to meet EPA requirements fo r clean air and each year they had to come up with things which would make them pass but ran like crap, it was not until the early 90's that they got it together on emmison control devices and all automanufacters had to have the same codes for the same thing including forigen cars now with that all figured out and their cars are lasting 200,000 or more miles the goverment changes plans again they want o emmisons in california so now they got to spen a ton of money to build new technolegy and it costs a fortune for resurch and development so again they are screwed by the same goverment that won't bail them out. So oboma is creatig a health plan universal so that it can dump all the health plans the union forced on GM so now the Public tax payer will pay for them and now going to electric cars well thats impossible since oboma is going to stop pcoal producing plants and won't build any nukeular energy electric plants that don't pollute so how do we charge all the new cars even if they do build them? you try hitting a target everytime you shoot at it and see how well you perform.
