Is this an oxymoron...Detroit makes PROFIT margins, not CARS!!!

If they file chapter 11, an independent person comes in and runs things, worst case, they would have to honor warranties, even if they closed down, but I have a Chrysler warranty, it's part of Chrysler, but a different entity all together.

You don't have to worry If a service contract company goes out of business or files for BK, Federal law requires that a licensed insurance company guarantee both contract provider and dealer service contracts. This guarantee means that if a contract provider or dealer fails to pay any claim, either because they are out of business, file BK, or simply does not think the claim is covered by the contract, then you can seek to have the insurance company pay the claim. The law requires that the name and address of the insurance company be printed on the contract. Look for the name and address on the contract, and do not buy any service contract that does not have the insurance company’s name and address printed on it. A service contract without the name of a backup insurance company is illegal.

Neither one is filing for bankruptcy and they don't have any plans to. They'll still be in business long after we're dead and buried. They, along with Chrysler, just got a $25,000,000,000 gov't loan to continue their research and development and manufacturing.

There is no reason to worry about their warranties. They'll have plenty of dealerships nationwide to handle them.
