GM 5.3 motor swap to older car?

has anyone put a newer 5.3 in a old car or truck.I have 2000 chevy 1500 wreck that im pulling engine and trans out of. I'm going to put the combo eng trans ,computer,ac ,wiring harness ,every thing right down to the lighting wires in a old full size car (60 or 70s).I will probably graft the truck dash into the car to make ease of interior wiring ,ac controls and if i do it right it will look cool. I would like to hear from some people that have done such as this or if anyone has any suggestions .also , will the fuel system ,in tank sending unit and float need to be transferred............thanks folks ....ERIC
