Glucosamine and blood pressure

I have been working well on blood pressure medicines--micardis and norvasc in low doses. However, I also take glucosamine and chondroitin for arthritis. I heard some friends say that glucosamine can raise blood pressure and one person they knew had to get off it because it raised his pressure. I am wondering if anyone has noticed that glucosamine did this. I am getting off it to experiment whether the blood pressure changes for the better and then will get on it again to see if it gets higher. Anyway, I was just curious if anyone found out something about this.

i have heard that glucosamine is good for bone health but have never heard that it could help blood pressure. have you ever thought about trying herbal remedies. A daily dose of garlic is said to work wonders. Have a look at herbfacts.co.uk they have got lots of useful info on how herbs can help.

Check and see if your glucosamine containes "sodium". If so, the effect of sodium on blood pressure may be a problem for salt sensitive people.

I do know glucosamine can/will raise blood sugar.

I did not say that it helped blood pressure but that someone said that it raised their blood pressure. I looked for salt in it and it did not contain salt. I do not know if it affects my pressure or not but I am experimenting with it to see if it does. I have been two weeks off it and my pressure is good. Next week I will get back on glucosamine to see if the pressure goes up. I was just wondering if anyone had this happen besides just the one person I heard about.
Thanks,
Marty

I was at Walmart with my daughter and she used their free blood pressure machine (I never knew it was there). Anyway, after she was done I sat down and had my reading. I was totally shocked that my pressure was much higher than normal. At first I thought it was because I have recently gained a lot of weight, but then I remembered that I started taking glucosamine & chondroten. Doing a quick search I discovered that yes, a temporary side effect (though rare) can be high blood pressure.

There is something else I am thinking about....I have multiple eye problems and my blurred vision seems to be clearing up. It can possibly be because of the glucomine because that is the only change I've made.
