Glass window between kitchen and lounge?

I have a glass window between my kitchen and lounge, it lets in light but looks old-fashioned. I don't know whether or not to remove it, (it's set in plasterboard section so it's not load-bearing) perhaps make a breakfast bar on the kitchen side or change the glass. Any ideas??
 
If it's all plasterboard,i'd take the whole lot out and have open plan. You could have your breakfast bar too................
