Gladiator is Re-Released for one day only!

This movie belongs on the big screen - okay, so the script kind of buckles under the heavyweight acting presence, not least the star-making turn from Russell Crowe, but also exceptional action sequences that blend old school stuns with CGI.
Praise Richard Harris's (Marcus Aurelius) memory by going to see it pissed.

It's a GREAT film that goes a bit wrong towarRAB the end. The last scene in the Colloseum is pretty good but the sequence just before it just doesn't have enough action in it. It's missing a decent fight with all the soldiers and Proximo (Oliver Reed's character, who they had to give a crap ending to because he died prior to filming it).

Joaquin Phoenix steals the whole thing as Commodus IMO. He's a bit of a different kind of villain, you get the feeling the script could have been played a lot more generic but he helps make it as sinister, pathetic and strange as possible.

I love this film and i have to agree that it belongs on the big screen, i would love to see Ridley Scott make another film about this period in history.
