Gladiator 2?

Hi everyone, i remember a while back reading on a film website that the film rights of gladiator 2 was up for sale but that ridley scott had no interest in doing it? such a great film was Gladiator and had taken me by surprise at the time of release as i tend to remember not much hype about it at all! probably made it a better film for that matter.

Q1: Who would make a good director of G2?

Q2: Where would the film carry on from? or would it be a prequal?
 
Bad idea. Gladiator is a brilliant film and should not be attempted to be repeated. :D

A prequel? do you mean Russel Crows character commanding a Roman army on a campaign. Could be a good film but needn't be called Gladiator 2. Maybe something like Centurian. :confused:
 
Nick Cave (yes, the singer) has been writing a script, Ridley Scott is considering taking the reins again IF the script and idea works. There have been rumours abouyt Russell returning in 'ghost' form, or doing a prequel. The second is the most feasible option from what he's said in recent interviews that I've read.
 
Yeah it could work but there's absolutely no need for it. Gladiator is a movie designed to stand on it's own. The beginning of the movie shows Maximus commanding an army, nothing more is needed. And the fact that he would look older in a prequel couldn't be avoided.
 
News report on RAB says the project has ended. Apparently they loved the script but have decided to do other projects.

Very good move imho.. Gladiator could never be topped.
 
Saw an interview with Ridley Scott somewhere a while back discussing a sequel, and he said he was planning it, but it wouldn't be what "Gladiator" fans would expect - more of a drama. with focus being on the political arena of Rome rather than the gladiatorial one.
